The total battery-electric passenger-car fleet reached 7.59 million. Plug-in hybrid registrations also increased, while new pure petrol and diesel registrations declined. Swiss electric-car registrations recovered during 2025

Switzerland registered 232,602 new passenger cars in 2025. Battery-electric registrations increased by 15.6%.

Battery-electric cars represented 22.7% of new passenger-car registrations and plug-in hybrids 11.2%. Together, vehicles rechargeable from the grid reached a 33.9% share, according to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office.

EU van and truck registrations declined in 2025

ACEA reports fewer new vans and trucks in the EU, while the electrically chargeable share increased in both segments.

New van registrations fell by 8.8% and truck registrations by 6.2%. Electrically chargeable vans reached an 11.2% market share, and electrically chargeable trucks above 3.5 tonnes reached 4.2%. Diesel nevertheless remained the dominant commercial-vehicle powertrain.

More than 215,000 motorhomes and caravans were newly registered across Europe in 2025.

The European market was around 2.6% below the previous year but remained at a historically high level. Motorhomes were the stabilising segment with approximately 161,000 registrations, while caravan registrations were softer.
